The Director and Chief Hypnotist at the Hypnosis Center of Ventura
County, Dr. Nathan O'Hara, was first trained in hypnosis by Dr.
Gyda Hallum at the University of Houston in 1976-77 as part of his
Master's degree program.
He has held the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the
University of California at Santa Barbara since 1985. During his
doctoral program Nathan trained extensively in the Gestalt Therapy
model with Drs. George Isaac Brown and Stewart Shapiro.
Dr. O’Hara’s other relevant experience includes:
- Over 20 years providing health education instruction for Planned
Parenthood of Santa Barbara County(1980-1989), Snohomish Health
District in Everett Washington (1989-1990), and the Santa Barbara
County Public Health Department (1992-2001); and
- 26 years providing therapeutic massage services to clients; and
- Service since 2006 as Director and Chief Instructor of the Alive!
Institute of Therapeutic Massage
Lucy O'Hara: Instructor Lucy O'Hara has been a licensed massage
therapist since 1999, and is a member in good standing of the
American Massage Therapy Association. Her specializations are
Swedish and Acupressure massage, as well as the business of massage.
Together, Lucy and Nathan operate the Hypnosis Center of Ventura
County, as well as a number of massage, acupressure and reflexology
concessions in California and Texas.
